DescriptionThe fragment is decorated with broad solid bands of coloured wefts, including red silk floss and blue linen. The silk weft of the other bands is worn out completely. The fragment is raw on all four sides. The inscription band is incomplete at both ends. According to Lisa Golombek, the tiraz bears the name of the Fatimid caliph al-Muizz, but its style harks back to the large monumental inscription produced for the Abbasid caliph al-Muti.
