Hexagonal medallions containing a bird alternate with pairs of leaves. The pseudo-kufic band below was probably inspired by textiles with simple kufic inscriptions. The bottom has traces of a warp fringe typical of a shawl or turban. This is very similar to a piece in Cairo that has an inscription identifying it as the turban of Samuel, son of Musa (Moses), probably a member of the important Jewish community of Old Cairo.
