The main scene on the belly of the hydria shows a charioteer, wearing long white tunic (chiton) with a Boiotian-type shield slung on his back, standing in a four-horsed chariot (quadriga). Beside the horses is a bearded warrior who carries his helmet and shield. In front of the horses is an armed hoplite warrior wearing his crested helmet. On the shoulder is a scene showing a naked youth flanked by seated female sphinxes, and cockerels.
According to Beazley, this was painted by the Ready Painter.
