Glass flasks, jars, beakers, and small toiletry flasks of uniform fabric were popular during the Byzantine era. To embellish these vessels, artisans enjoyed applying trail and coil decorations, heavy threads, frills, and zigzag patterns. Sometimes they added coil upon coil of glass to form very fancy and elaborate handles. A two-coloured scheme was frequently employed.
