DescriptionAlternate pairs of bright yellow and dark red yarns form the weft-patterned stepped bands. As prepared for market, three lengths of cloth have been tacked together at intervals. They would have been sewn properly at home, possibly to create the Igbo female ceremonial dress known as "up and down" in which two cloths were wrapped around the body, one at the waist, the other under the arms.
