A border design of plants growing on small rockeries, some with narrow pointed leaves resembling irises. They extend the entire length of the border without turning at either end. The guard borders have a stylised arrangement of flowers and scroll foliage on a red ground. What remains of the centre is filled with small flowers and foliage in reserves. There is a selvage down the left side. The design is reminiscent of iris sprays growing from chinoiserie rockeries in Persian silks of the seventeenth century. The application of mordants has been careless except on the outlines which are drawn with some skill.
