Description“Guaranteed Real Dutch wax.” In West Africa, industrially-made “wax prints” are exceedingly popular – a fashion that may have originated with African troops returning from Indonesia, the homeland of batik. The most prestigious type is made with a wax resist applied by machine to both sides of the cloth; additional colours are added through block or roller printing. Men’s dress requires 9.1 metres (10 yards) while women use 1.8 metres (2 yards) each for blouse, skirt, head wrapper, and baby carrier.
