Description

Bucchero ware pottery is a refinement of the local impasto wares, using different clay and some imported techniques. It was fired in a reducing atmosphere (oxygen-poor) that results in ceramic that is black throughout. This is a different technique from the Greek painted wares where black is the colour of an applied slip.
