DescriptionInsignia for the front of a pufu (overcoat) of an official or duke in the imperial service (mang dragon). Dark blue satin embroidered with silk floss in satin stitch, split stitch and couching; dragon in couched gold thread and split stitch. Front-facing dragon, originally four-clawed, fifth claw added but removed from two lower feet. Dragon suspended above wave border with precious objects; peonies growing from rocks at sides; clouds and bats in background. Edged with zigzag patterned tape and bound with black satin.
