Description

Mughal-e-Azam (The Mughal Emperor) is one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of all time. It is a historical film loosely based on the life of the Mughal Prince Salim, who became the Emperor Jahangir (reigned 1608–1627), and narrates his encounters with love, heartbreak, battle, imprisonment, and death. Shot in partial colour, it took nine years and $2,000,000 to finish. It broke box office records in India and played continuously for two years in India and abroad.
