DescriptionLeft and right halves of an insignia for the front of the pufu (overcoat) of a 4th rank miliary official (tiger). Black satin ground entirely covered with silk floss embroidery done in satin stitch, long and short stitch, split stitch, knot stitch and couching. Left-facing animal is on mound in billows with precious objects; clouds and bats against background of lotus and tendrils in couched gold thread on ground of blue knot stitch. Fret border of couched gold thread.
