Description

The oval shaped bezel of the marble ring bears the representation of a female head carved in high relief and in three-qiarters view to the left. The woman's hair is arranged in a 'mellonfrisur' with five ribs on either side of a central part. A veil covers the top of the head and hangs down on either side behind the ears. A royal fillet is visible in front of the veil.

The hair style, the royal fillet and the woman's facial features with fleshy cheeks, a full rounded chin and a broad neck compare well with portraits of Berenike II (264-222/1 BC).
