DescriptionEight of the twelve ranks of nobles were assigned dragon badges. While fourclawed dragons called mang were assigned to princes of the third through the eighth rank, this hoofed dragon would have signalled that the wearer, though highly-esteemed, was not a member of the Manchu aristocracy.
