Description

The cotton textile for this turban has been hand-dyed by coil resist with 57 pattern changes in over 7 different dye baths. Over 16 metres in length, it is the measure of a man’s status. It demonstrates the dyer’s skill and the owner’s wealth and power. A sign of largesse, it was gifted from the wealthy to retainers.
