DescriptionCreating objects by pouring molten metal into a mould has great antiquity. Some early moulds were made by creating a model in wax, then covering the wax model in clay, burning out the wax, and then pouring molten metal into the void left by the wax. This particular object is part of a two-piece mould that would have been repeatedly used to make parts for bronze vessels.
