DescriptionThis object is a trivet, an example of kiln furniture used during the firing to separate glazed vessels. Kiln furniture of this type tends to not travel from the point of manufacture and use, so it is good evidence of manufacture. The characterisation of pottery made at Hays, an important local ceramic production centre in the mediaeval period and after, is based on analysis of evidence of this nature.
