DescriptionThis drinking cup may be poor-quality Attic ware, but is more likely to be a South Italian imitation of a Greek shape. The cup was covered with slip which turned black in the firing process, but the red disc on the interior is a mistake. During firing in the kiln another vessel was stacked on top of the cup, covering the red reserved area and preventing it from oxidising to turn the slip black.
