Fragment of silk pékin, a textile with longitudinal stripes employing different binding systems for added texture and interest. In the late 18th century, dress silks were characterized by small floral sprigs and meanders restrained by vertical stripes. Details are often done in chenille brocading wefts, which give a velvety effect.
