DescriptionLike in other places in ancient Peru, the dead on the South Coast were often buried in mummy bundles that contained multiple garments. This camelid fibre, fringed, sleeveless shirt was embroidered in cotton with a red band depicting geometric fish motifs. Archaeologists suggest that garments found in the bundles were worn by the deceased in life.
