DescriptionFine rebozos are still made in contemporary Mexico. Santa María del Río has long been an important centre for the creation of silk rebozos using the traditional backstrap loom. Estrada Hernández is a master weaver, who specializes in ikat dyeing. The warp (vertical) threads of this spectacular silk rebozo were dyed with indigo, cochineal, lichens, and other natural colourants.
