DescriptionOn the strap of this bridle piece, the eagle flanked by lions — a reference to Aztec glory before Spanish colonization — symbolized the rebranding of the Mexican Republic as an independent nation. Showy rather than functional, this was probably used for parades and gala events. Glass beads, metal, and wool tassels on cord.
