Description

Nuns in colonial Mexico decorated devotional objects with imported glass beads, often stringing them on wires to make floral ornaments. Statues of female saints were adorned with jewellery made from glass beads, seed pearls, and coral. Here the centre image shows Christ Triumphant, with instruments of the Passion and the frame is elaborately decorated with glass beads.
