DescriptionBlue and white pin striped textile fragment found in the 1980 excavation season at Fostat (Old Cairo). Striped and plaid designs were easily achieved by varying the colour of individual warps and wefts in a prescribed sequence. Documentary sources like those of the Cairo Geniza often mention such fabrics used for clothing.
