Description

Model cradles such as this one are often found, as this one was, in the foundation deposits of temples.  The real thing would have been used to shift large building stones  so that they could be twisted round, drawn along, or rocked up an inclined plane.

It's sometimes hard to believe that the great works of the Ancient Egyptians were constructed with such simple tools. These wooden tools and models remind us that it was human ingenuity and human muscle power that made the temples and pyramids.
