DescriptionThis is one of rare surviving bars of this kind, with remaining three characters with red-paint writing, possibly suggestive of its function like a funeral tablet, but yet to confirm. The inscription reads “made by Wang Jie” XXX [加中文这里]. The bar is of a long but slightly tapering rectangular shaft of greenish-white jade with gold and white inner streaking and staining. Its low polish leaves minor surface scratching. The slim-waist but hilt-like finial has crossbar top and one line "bowstring" in relief at narrowest point. "Hilt" is set-off from a shaft which is somewhat uneven and pitted at its lower end. The shaft becomes thicker and more regularly cut on left side than right. 玉质白色,半透明,表面黏有泥土。整体长方柱状,平顶,柄部内收,有一道凸弦纹,末端平直。通体磨光,无纹,无穿孔。阴刻三字“XXX”。(古方)
