DescriptionThe oil container of this lamp is gripped in the beak of a phoenix standing on a tortoise. A fifty-three character inscription around its edge mentions among other things that this is a phoenix lamp made for the palace in the year 28 BC, with a weight of 1 catty 14 tael (460 grams).
