Mulham was highly prized because the combination of a fine silk warp and cotton weft produced a soft, smooth, tightly-woven fabric. The inscription in calligraphic kufic has elegant, carefully spaced vertical letters. Some tall letters have even been inserted into words that do not require them. Inscription: [May God bless the Prophet Muhammad] Seal of the Prophets, and all the members of his family, the good, the virtuous. Blessing from God, and grace, peace and happiness [to the Caliph...]
