This vibrant European furnishing textile was made in France after the ban on making printed cottons was lifted. Three sets of blocks were needed to create the bold repeat pattern of two bouquets of large flowers with entwined stripe. It is printed with separate mordants for red, yellow and black. The blue was added by hand after dyeing.
