DescriptionTraditional Indo-Persian design of an arch filled with floral ornament. In the centre, under the arch, a large conventionalized cypress tree filled with flowering motifs, growing from a stylized vase flanked by a pair of confronted peacocks. The vase is posed on a mound, upon which are tigers and deers. Flanking the central section is a pair of tall compartments containing slim, conventionalized cypress trees and repeating medallions filled with floral ornament. At the top is a series of elaborate borders with floral meanders. In the centre, a printed inscription in red, not yet deciphered. The sides finished with a broader stripe of chevrons and triple band of floral meanders which continues along the bottom. Backed with printed cotton: check formed by leaves and small roses against a light brown ground, each containing a pair of cherries. Edged with striped printed cotton in bias cut.
