This tripod vessel was rendered in the Zoned Biochrome period that pairs a red slip with the natural buff or brown of the fired clay. The geometric designs on the bowl are reminiscent of the woven mat designs that were used to separate rooms in a residential house and the supports feature human heads that may contain zoomorphic elements. Pre-Columbian leaders were thought to transform into animals during trances or drug use, and the supports may show this transformation.
