DescriptionThese three fragments of a tapestry band, probably from the shoulder of a tunic, are decorated with a row of fish and aquatic plants on a dark blue ground representing water. Marine motifs, especially Nilotic motifs, were very popular in the Late Antique period and were associated with fertility, rebirth and eternal life.
