DescriptionThe Chimu made millions of pottery vessels. Many of these vessels depicted the plants and animals that they saw around them. This stirrup-spout vessel depicts a fish. Fish were central to the Chimu diet, and their art reveals a fascination with creature of the ocean.  Recent research has begun identifying some of the species likely depicted in Chimu art.
