Description

Stone axes like this one are common throughout Latin America. Attached to a wooden handle or simply cradled in the hand, these tools were used for forest clearance and agriculture.  The form of axes changed little until they were replaced by iron and steel axes in the years following the Spanish Conquest.  

. It could have had a variety of uses.
