DescriptionCamptosaurus was an early member of the group of dinosaurs from which the duck-billed dinosaurs, or hadrosaurs, evolved. Camptosaurus browsed on low-growing vegetation, which it cropped with its turtle-like bill and then chopped with chisel-shaped cheek teeth. It probably walked on all four legs while browsing but could run on its hind legs to escape predators. Its front foot or hand is unusual in having five digits (fingers). Most dinosaurs have only three.
