Overview

Rights and Reproductions coordinates and processes requests for the use of ROM images, other digital assets and some specimen loans. Clients pay fees determined by the type of use and the complexity of the request.

Rights and Reproductions receives at least 15 to 20 requests a week and our clients include museums and art galleries, book and magazine publishers, film and television production companies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, students and researchers.

Processing times vary from approximately two to seven days for standard requests or longer for requests requiring research.

Image Reproduction & Licensing

ROM Collections allows for the reproduction of the online images included in its records. Anyone wishing to reproduce these images****, copyrighted to the ROM, may place an image request via the Online Form and enter into a licensing agreement with the ROM. Permission for such use is granted on a case-by-case basis, contingent on any specific restrictions associated with image use, and at the sole discretion of the ROM.

Image reproduction costs are based on production and use fees; all fees are for one-time, non-exclusive use, and may be renewed upon request. The ROM reserves the right to apply special fees for some non-commercial and/or commercial uses.

The image collection and the underlying materials are protected by Canada’s Copyright Act, and the regulations thereunder, and by similar laws in other countries.
