Otomí backstrap weavers in the Mezquital Valley specialize in making double-weave drawstring bags. Cloth is constructed in two layers. Although the patterning is identical on both sides, the positions of the ground and the motifs are reversed. Woven designs are inspired by the natural world. Weavers interlace the ends of the warp (vertical) threads to make a pattern.
